Eme Alfonso is a Cuban singer and songwriter Latin Grammy Winner in 2022, blending Afro-Cuban heritage with contemporary sounds. Born in Havana to a family of musicians behind the legendary band Síntesis, Eme grew up immersed in a fusion of Afro-Cuban rhythms, jazz, and rock. Her discography includes Señales (2009), Eme (2012), and Voy (2018), earning accolades like the Ibermúsicas Award for Best Song Composition for “Algo Más” (2020). Eme has performed at prestigious events such as NPR Tiny Desk Concert, SXSW, and WOMEX, gaining acclaim for her vibrant fusion of traditional and modern styles.
As Artistic Director of the Havana World Music Festival, Eme also champions emerging Cuban talent through the Primera Base Project supported by British Council. Her unique artistry bridges cultures and elevates Latin music globally.
